My Background

I am Helen Williams, a former UK detective with 34 years of frontline investigative experience across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the British Overseas Territories, including the BVI. During my policing career, I worked on complex investigations including homicide, safeguarding and child protection, domestic abuse, and the interviewing of both offenders and victims. That experience gave me a deep understanding of human behaviour, trauma, and the realities people face when life changes suddenly and dramatically.

After retiring from the police, I built Helen Williams Coaching to support individuals and professionals through challenging transitions. Alongside my professional background, I also have lived experience of leaving a coercive relationship, which shaped my mission to help others rebuild their confidence, regain control, and move forward with strength. I understand first-hand how intelligent, capable people can become trapped in damaging dynamics, and I also understand what it takes to recover and rebuild.

I hold a B(Hons) in Investigation and I am currently studying an MSc in Neuroscience, Psychology and Mental Health. I am a trained Clinical Hypnotherapist, a Tier 5 Interview Adviser, and an Interview Specialist. I am also a 200-hour Yoga Teacher, and I incorporate nervous system regulation and holistic techniques to support calm, clarity, and emotional resilience.

Alongside my coaching work, I lecture at universities and deliver specialist training to organisations, police forces, and emergency services worldwide. My approach is grounded, professional, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, and my guiding belief remains simple: behaviours are the clues.

A Career Built on Experience, Integrity, and Real-World Insight

My business is built on over three decades of frontline investigative experience combined with deep psychological understanding and lived resilience. After serving 34 years as a detective across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the British Overseas Territories, I chose to channel that experience into something transformative. I have worked on homicide investigations, child protection cases, domestic abuse, and complex interviews involving both victims and offenders. I understand trauma, high-pressure environments, and the emotional weight people carry when facing life-altering situations. Today, I use that knowledge to provide professional guidance rooted in clarity, discretion, and strength. My work reflects not only what I have seen and handled professionally, but what I have navigated personally — creating a business grounded in authenticity, courage, and practical wisdom.

Turning Adversity Into Strength and Direction

My mission is to help people rebuild confidence, regain control, and move forward with strength during times of uncertainty. Whether someone is navigating a career transition, recovering from a coercive relationship, or facing professional challenges, I am committed to helping them feel informed, capable, and empowered. I believe that even the most difficult experiences can become turning points when approached with the right support and mindset. My mission is not simply to guide — it is to equip people with the clarity, resilience, and self-belief needed to create lasting change. Every conversation, every session, and every training I deliver is focused on strengthening individuals so they can move forward with confidence rather than fear.

Experience You Cannot Learn From a Textbook

What makes me different is the depth and breadth of real-world experience I bring to every interaction. I have spent 34 years working at the frontline of human behaviour — interviewing offenders, supporting victims, leading complex investigations, and navigating systems under pressure. Alongside this professional background, I bring lived experience of overcoming coercive control, as well as advanced training in clinical hypnotherapy, neuroscience psychology, and nervous system regulation. I understand both the practical realities of high-stakes environments and the emotional complexities of personal recovery. This combination allows me to offer support that is grounded, strategic, and deeply human. I do not rely solely on theory — I draw from decades of experience, resilience, and continued professional development to provide insight that is authentic, informed, and impactful.
